Job Title: CNC Programmer / Machine Operator


1st Shift: 7:00am - 4:00pm M-F


Payrate: $18-20


Job Summary: As a CNC Programmer / Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process by programming and operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. Your responsibilities will include interpreting technical drawings, setting up machines, programming CNC equipment, and ensuring the production of high-quality machined components. This role demands precision, attention to detail, and technical expertise in machining processes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Interpretation of Technical Drawings:

    • Analyze and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand machining requirements.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify design intent and machining specifications.
  2. CNC Programming:

    • Develop CNC programs using CAM software based on provided design specifications.
    • Optimize programs for efficiency, tool utilization, and cycle time.
  3. Machine Setup and Calibration:

    • Set up CNC machines, including loading materials, securing workpieces, and calibrating machine settings.
    • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure machines operate smoothly.
  4. Tool Selection and Maintenance:

    • Choose appropriate cutting tools based on materials and machining requirements.
    • Monitor tool wear and replace tools as necessary to maintain machining precision.
  5. Quality Control:

    • Perform in-process inspections to ensure workpieces meet quality standards.
    • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve any deviations from specifications.
  6. Troubleshooting:

    • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to CNC programming, machine operation, or tooling.
    • Implement corrective actions to maintain production efficiency.
  7. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, tooling setups, and machine parameters.
    • Generate reports detailing production output, downtime, and any quality issues.
  8. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
    • Participate in training programs to stay updated on safety and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in CNC programming and machining is preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer and Machine Operator.
    • Proficiency in CNC programming languages and CAM software.
  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Communication:

    • Effective communication skills for collaboration with engineering and quality assurance teams.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and move heavy materials and work in a manufacturing environment.
